How did she die? She was crushed and/or suffocated when a Lex Luthor-caused earthquake along the San Andreas Fault caused her car to slide into a crevasse followed by several tons of loose soil.
What brings her back? Her unrequited love, Superman, flew around the Earth backwards really really fast, somehow causing it to reverse its spin and time to travel backwards, giving Supes time to rescue Lois. That sound you hear is a thousand scientists slapping their foreheads in disgust.
Was it worth it? Yes, everyone lived happily ever after. Except that Superman and Lois don't ever quite sort themselves out (except that one time on TV).
